Get to Know Selkie

My fondest TFC memory was having lunch with Mary, Rob, and Corny after having lost touch with them for decades. When I was young, Mary Taylor was my violin teacher in Oklahoma, but we lost touch after the Taylors moved to Charleston. Decades later, I moved to Charleston myself. I hadn't seen or spoken to them in DECADES, so I went to the College of Charleston (the last place I remembered Rob having worked), found his office, and left a note on the door. Two days later, I met Mary, Rob, and Corny for lunch, and they welcomed me back into their home and family like one of their own.

My life's motto is "If it scares you and excites you in equal measure, it's worth doing."

I'm passionate about spending time with my pups (Naia and Asoka), curating psychologically safe communities, and making art.

The song I could listen to on repeat is Olympians by Andrew Bird.

This year I want to spend more time with my pups, relax, and continue to grow my ability to hold firm boundaries while being kind.

If I could only eat three meals for the rest of my life, they would be chicken and sausage gumbo with french bread, tacos with grandma's homemade taco sauce, and the homemade biscuits I used to eat at conventions in Perry, OK.

One of my secret indulgences is drinking a hot buttered rum and doing mixed media art.

Pushing Daisies is one of my favorite TV shows because it addresses dark subjects in such a beautiful and whimsical way.

I love witnessing people grow in meaninful ways, because I just want everyone to be happy and healthy.

I want to meet the remaining Voices board members in real life.
